Hsiao-wei Wang Rupprecht

Professor Rupprecht has taught Chinese literature and language in North America, Germany, China and Taiwan for thirty years. She has done research on Zhang Hen-shui (1895-1967), one of the most prolific Chinese fiction writers of the twentieth century, and Wang Zengqi (1920-1997), the fiction writer, essayist and Peking opera playwright. She has given presentations at conferences on bringing Chinese fiction into the Chinese language classroom, developing advanced Chinese language curricula and material, intercultural communication, the pros and cons of traditional vs. simple-form characters, and TA training. Her second advanced Chinese textbook, Speaking Out: Issues and Controversies, will be published by Routledge in 2020.
