Biography

Yue Meng’s current academic pursuits focus on the environmental humanities and the cultural history of environmental science and technology as she seeks to publish her upcoming monograph, The Land Reveals: Tracing Environmental Science in 20th Century China. She has accomplished an array of research projects in Chinese urban cultural history, women's writing, 20th-century literature, and the history of science. She authored Shanghai and Edges of Empire (University of Minnesota, 2006) and co-authored Emerging from Horizon of History: Modern Chinese Women’s Literature (Peking University, 2023). Additionally, she has published works in Chinese such as Humanity, History, and Culture: Three Keys of Literary Criticism (Renmin Wenxue Press, 2006) and On History and Narration (1994). Her scholarly articles explore themes of environmentalism, history of science, contemporary literature, and urban history.
