Biography

Juwon Kim is a doctoral student of modern Korean history in the Department of East Asian Studies. Prior to joining the University of Toronto in 2020, she received her B.A. in East Asian Studies from Columbia University and M.A. in Regional Studies - East Asia from Harvard University, where she focused on the political culture of postcolonial South Korea in newsreels and documentaries. Her current research interests include postwar South Korean popular culture and transpacific literary and visual articulations of race during the Cold War.
