Biography

Qi Hong is a Ph.D. candidate in modern Chinese literature and book history. Their dissertation explores the science, aesthetics, and politics of linguistic sound from late Qing to early twentieth-century China. Qi earned a master’s degree from Columbia University, where they completed a thesis on the art of patterns in Republican Chinese book design. 

Before graduate school, Qi worked as a part-time interpreter and translator in Beijing, China. She was a half-hearted volleyball player (MB/S), but now she spends more time sparring.
