On March 22, 2024, the EAS department hosted a vibrant Japanese Culture Day in the EAS lounge at Robarts Library, drawing over 50 students and their families, faculty, and staff. Attendees enjoyed a variety of educational and cultural activities, including a workshop on the Osaka dialect by Professor Ikuko Komuro-Lee, a traditional dance performance by our Japanese language students, and a panel discussion on the cultural significance of anime featuring Dr. Atsuko Hashimoto from Brock University and Kyoko Telfer, a 4th-year student at Huron University College. The evening before, the 2022 anime film "Suzume"—a topic of the panel discussion—was screened in the EAS lounge. Japanese Culture Day was a resounding success, and we look forward to hosting it again next year!
